Beacon Airplane Financing: Total Time Air Frame (TTAF)

Total Time Air Frame (TTAF)

Total Time of Airframe (TTAF) is defined as the record of the cumulative time in service – from the time the aircraft leaves the ground to the time that it touches down. This incorporates the time of the airframe, each engine, each propeller and each rotor. This is normally accumulated by the airplane’s Hobbs meter, akin to the odometer in a car.

It is always the responsibility of the owner and/or operator of the aircraft to provide this information to the FAA as well as maintenance personnel whenever required. Because the owner and/or operator of the aircraft may be asked at anytime to provide this information, it is highly advisable to record all applicable times and cycles in every maintenance record entry at every possible time.
